New Sinus Treatment, Balloon Sinus Procedure

I'm back. After a prolonged absence from the blogosphere I have recommitted to ENT4Me and all things ear, nose, and throat. So many new things to talk about. We recently introduced Balloon Sinus Dilation procedures to our practice. Cool procedure that can be as effective as surgery in properly selected patients. Kind of analogous to getting balloon treatment for heart vessel blockage instead of bypass. It can prevent the need for full-bown surgery in some patients, but it still leaves open that option for the future. The balloon can be used as a local procedure in the office, avoiding the risks of general anesthesia and costs of hospital care. If a person can tolerate a dental procedure, they can handle balloon sinus procedure. Not everyone is a candidate, but its an exciting development in our specialty. Will discuss pro's and con's with next post.
